Global Warming and Investment Dollars

Isolated events can affect the entire world. Hurricanes, wars, volcanoes, earthquakes though these events may occur in a single location, they can are somehow felt by all. There is one single threat to the world at large that has everyone talking, a threat that is not recent but has picked up a much larger following lately. Its global warming, and its a threat that everyone has heard about.

Global warming is a worldwide threat that, very simply, means only one thing: an earth-wide spread of rising temperatures. The belief is that, very slowly over time, the temperature of the world is growing warmer. This may not sound so bad, but the delicate balance of earths ecosystems must be considered. The fear is that these rising temperatures could cause the polar ice caps to melt, resulting in worldwide flooding and other horrific natural disasters that could, theoretically, destroy mass populations of plant and animal life.

Serious fodder to consider, indeed. Global warming has not been proved or disproved, though some possible causes to this greenhouse effect have been named. What causes global warming? Dangerous emissions in the atmosphere, such as the exhaust fumes that result from burning oil, could be affecting the ozone layer that protects the earth from the sun.

And though this threat seems intangible at best, rising concern and awareness is being raised. The end result is that, while nothing is at all likely to happen within the next several hundred years, more and more people are looking for clean energy solutions that could reduce (and eventually, eliminate) global warming. These days, it seems everything comes back around to clean energy solutions and reducing oil dependency.

What does it all mean for investors? As more and more learn about the threat of global warming (and more and more get fed up with paying for the high cost of oil) affordable energy solutions are highly prized. Research in the fields of ethanol, wind, and solar power is taken to with great enthusiasm. Clean energy seems to be the way of the future.

For investors, these new trends and expanding fields could mean big dollars. Stock in clean energy companies is up, but its still very early in the game. This means theres good opportunities for investors to get involved early, and huge payoffs could be the end result. Global warming, and the resulting clean energy boom, could really heat up investors wallets.
