Is the Biodiesel Boom a Boon for Investors?

Clean energy! Renewable resources! No more high oil costs! Energy concerns and criticisms are rampant, and the entire world is starting to take an active stance on the growing problem of oil overusage. Finding and using a renewable source of energy is something that everyone can support, because it benefits us all. But is the biodiesel boom a boon for investors…or something to financially avoid?
Many people are drawn to the benefits of clean-burning biodiesel, which is biodegradable, non-toxic, and totally renewable. It's made from every day vegetable oil, a resource that's certainly abundant. Biodiesel has fewer emissions than petroleum diesel and can be made from United States-based resources, like soybeans. In fact, biodiesel puts out almost zero emissions, making it a very environmentally-friendly fuel alternative. Because it's made from vegetable oil, the emissions often smell like foods - imagine driving down the street and smelling french fries everywhere.
Biodiesel sounds great for the environment. It's easy to obtain and to make and can be renewed almost at will. But, does that make it a good investment idea? The world is scrambling to come up with alternative fuel solutions, but everyone isn't on the biodiesel bandwagon. There is a growing contingent of supporters for ethanol, and don't forget that solar energy is highly favored by many environmentalists. The boidiesel boom could be one that fizzles, instead of one that ignites an investment fire.
Companies that are researching biodiesel and those who make the product are on the rise, however, and stock numbers seem to be promising. Right now, it's all about clean energy, alternative fuels, and renewable resources. Biodiesel seems to have the total package, and in fact many motorists are starting to use this fuel to power their vehicles. Even if biodiesel doesn't catch on in a big-scale way, it's performing very well on a small-scale basis. California is one of the states that's supporting biodiesel and clean energy solutions, and as public awareness increases more begin to explore the merits of this fuel. Is it a good idea to invest? In today's current economy, with the current mindset that clean energy is the only way to live, any renewable clean every resource has a great potential to take off exponentially in the market.
